A traditional way of life involves the necessity to abandon our lifestyle. No more Uber or Taxi, no more underground, no more Internet etc... It would force us to use what we are not familiar with. The world develops itself and there is reasons why we have created a world like we live in today. In my opinion, I think that returning to a traditional way of life would not make people happier because we are used to divertiments that didn't exist before and today's medicine is impossible to stop.
First of all, hobbies that we are used to can't coexist with a lifestyle from the Victorian Era. Indeed, many sports which are played in playgrounds belong to our time. For example, the
Super Bowl, which is the national championship in the United States, was created in 1967. For this event, more than 3 million of American organise parties and invite friends to celebrate. This game from the early XXth century brings happiness, excitement and pride for an entire country.
At the same time, returning to a traditional way of life won't make people happier because of the evolution of medicine and diseases. Indeed, before, it was common to die after an illness such as a flu. Now, because of the progress of the medicine, we can't go back to the past. Too important deseases would take control of the world and create an imbalance between societies.
To conclude, I think that returning to a traditional lifestyle won't make people hiker because of what we are used to and because of the medicine. But, sometimes, stopping progress and development can be a good measure, such as using the traditional way to cultivate the soils because they are dying after the utilisation of pesticides and fertilizers in mass.
