I understand returning to a traditional way of life would make people happier.
These people search a simple and traditional life, like our ancestors who used to take time to cook theirs vegetables coming from their gardens (potatoes, carrots…). I think this kind of persons search a slow life. For example, they buy clothes coming from “fripperies” because they prefer clothes made in naturals tissues (recycling clothes).
Today, we didn’t see the progress of technologies because we live with it every day. These technologies haven’t stopped expending since the industrial revolution. Today it’s easy to buy unexpensive clothes because they come from countries who have cheap labour but that also unhealthy chemicals.
Moreover, the industrial revolution allowed the development of technologies in the food processing industry for example so that today we don’t need to cook anymore. We can eat every day different prepared dishes without owning a vegetable garden.
The “old days” way of life was healthier for our body and for our planet. However traditional way of life takes much
more time to do different tasks and gives fewer choices in food as in clothes. In spite of that, modern way of life has also positive points. For example, fast food such as Pastabox gives a large choice of ready-made food and this is time gained for leisure activities.
Today the “fast way of life” it’s our way of life. So, I can understand who person can be nostalgic of the olden days or those that find a necessity to keep this never-ending hectic life in our industrial era.
Today could we imagine a slow life in a fast city as " rooftop garden "? Every consumer would have his responsibility to use natural products would be not to deny the past " a man who ignores his past has no future ".
